A Different Me

I ran across a quote recently that said:

"Every next level of your life will demand a different you."

I've decided to resurrect this blog, but I've changed the title to better reflect the next stage of my life, and the new me. When I originally started this, I was a struggling single mom, hoping to share my story with my future spouse. Well, today is my 4th anniversary with said spouse.

I also used this blog as a place to share my struggles with depression, and my journey venturing into the world of triathlon. Little did I know how much both of these things would completely change my life.

On December 3, 2017, I completed my first Ironman triathlon in Busselton, Western Australia, reaching a goal I set for myself 5.5 years ago... to gain mental toughness. Since the race, I've been trying to decide how to share the story. I want to make sure I apply what I've learned to my future, and I want to share it with others to inspire and uplift.

So, my next few posts will be a multi-part series on my story to finishing an Ironman - and beating depression. I hope to write future posts including other people's stories. My goal is for some of these posts to be video vignettes.

I feel strongly that a big part of our time here on Earth should be spent helping each other. With so many people struggling with mental illnesses, I've learned it takes a village to help you stay alive and live your best life, or be your best self.

Here's to kicking depression's butt!
